They are rubber conveyor belts with a special structure that, through their construction, provides flame protection as well as protection against the accumulation of electrical charges by friction (antistatic) that could lead to the possibility of explosions.
This type of rubber conveyor belt has multiple applications in the field of transporting materials with a high content of fats or vegetable, animal or inorganic oils. In general, this type of conveyor belt is used in mining (to delineate and to stop the spread of flames explosions occurring in mine), but can be used in any other field ,which requires high resistance to flame.
Flame resistant conveyor belts are manufactured according european standarts in the following rubber quality: K – Antistatic conveyor belt with covers resistant at flame. Carcass is not flame resistance. S – Antistatic and flame resistant conveyor belt, with the carcass resistant at flame.
The cover (faces) of the conveyor may be flame-resistant and antistatic only or may be simultaneously resistant to flame, explosion and grease or oil.
General characteristics of the conveyor belt
- The conveyor belt has increased resistance to open fire;
- The composition of the conveyor belt faces does not allow the possibility of explosions due to the antistatic characteristic of the belt;
- The rubber faces of the belt have an increased abrasion resistance;
- They can be executed in the following structures: 250/2; 315/2; 400/3; 500/3; 500/4; 630/4; 800/4; 800/5; 1000/4; 1000/5; 1250/5; 2000/6 (where the first value indicates the tensile strength in N/mm and the second indicates the number of blades in the belt);
- The strips can be made and delivered in standardized widths up to a maximum of 2000 mm. Widths outside the standards can also be made on request;
- The execution thicknesses of the rubber belts are between 4 – 30 mm;
- Execution lengths are between 50 – 300 m.
Types of belt edges
- MOULDED EDGES – are recommended for belts with thicknesses greater than 10 mm and work environments with high humidity or highly corrosive environments;
- CUTTING EDGES – are recommended for belts up to 10 mm and dry or low humidity working environments.
